Lecture on Privacy and Communication Surveillance

A lecture on Privacy and Communication Surveillance held on 26 October 2014 at the premises of Rajshahi University. The lecture program was jointly organized by VOICE and Muktodhara Network, Rajshahi. Salim Reza Newton and Manun Haidar from Mass Communication & Journalism Department and Bokhtiar Ahmed from Anthropology department spoke in the event.

Ahmed Swapan Mahmud provides the insights on privacy drawing examples and briefly explain about the country situation.
Salim Reza Newton points out the implication of ICT Act on right to privacy. He said the ICT Act (amendment) has increased the possibilities of surveillance to online communication within legal frameworks.

Manun Haidar indicates that the country does not have any data protection law, anyone can be the victim of misuse of the surveillance.

Speakers emphasized to formulate data privacy policy and urged citizens to hold accountable to the government for any interception n surveillance. The lecture ended with question answer by the students.
